Full Job Description
Following successful investment into the pharmacy clinical cancer services team, we have a new fantastic opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist to join our growing team in adult cancer services at the University Hospital Lewisham site. You will work together with your counterpart at the QEH site, to improve outcomes for cancer patients at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT). Although this post is based at University Hospital Lewisham, the post holder will be expected to work cross-site as required. The pharmacy service at LGT, is well established, and is highly valued by the Division. You will be expected to lead and develop the outpatient, day-case, and ward based pharmacy service at LGT, which will be pivotal in improving services to patients.,
- To be responsible for the day to day leadership and management of Cancer Services at University Hospital Lewisham.
- To be responsible for the coordination and delivery of a responsive, proactive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to the Allied Clinical Services division. This will include the promotion of safe, effective and cost effective drug use to facilitate patient admission and enhance continuity of care across the primary and secondary care interface.
- To support the Lead Pharmacist Technical Services (UHL) and the Technical Services Manager in the implementation of technical service developments Trustwide.
- To support the division in managing their drugs budget and act as the point of liaison for any service developments that involves medicines or pharmacy services in Oncology and Palliative Care.
- To act as a role model and provide a consistently high standard of pharmaceutical service to patients in line with the Trust and Departmental objectives.
- To provide operational and clinical support to pharmacy developments as dictated by trust, departmental and service objectives. This includes supervision, training and support to junior pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and other pharmacy staff as necessary.
- To deputise for the Principal Pharmacist for Cancer Services & Palliative Care as required., 1. Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development 2. Widening access (anchor institution) and employability 3. Improving the experience of staff with disability 4. Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development 5. Making equalities mainstream
You will have experience of developing, managing and delivering pharmacy services, and have a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to cancer services. You should have considerable clinical experience and be keen to use your knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care through the delivery of efficient medicines management services. You should ideally have an independent prescribing qualification or currently working towards the qualification.You will have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; you must be able to manage your own workload, motivate and manage others, work as part of a team, and engage at a high level with key stakeholders within the Division.
