Full Job Description

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a self-motivated and dynamic pharmacy technician to join our EPMA and Informatics Team. This role will require the successful applicant to continue developing pharmacy IT systems as well as contributing to the optimisation of the trusts newly implemented Cerner Millennium Electronic Patient Record system.

The successful applicant will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital but will work closely with the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary teams across CDDFT. Applicants must be registered with the GPhC and have significant post registration hospital experience.

We look forward to receiving applications from forward thinking, motivated pharmacy technicians who share our trust values and behaviours., Working under the supervision of the Medication Safety Officer, the successful candidate will develop and maintain safe IT systems within pharmacy and the wider trust. You will plan and lead on projects and other activities, including the development and design of new functions within the Pharmacy IT and ePMA systems. You will also be required to analyse, investigate and resolve complex IT and ePMA queries, which may require adaptation of software and hardware to resolve the issue.

The successful candidate will be proactive in collating and interpreting data in order to generate quantitative reports to a wide variety of staff groups and ensuring that information is shared effectively across the organisation. You will support the management, training and development of pharmacy team members and review departmental training needs on a regular basis.

You will also be an active member of the pharmacy senior management team and work closely with other lead pharmacists and technicians to ensure a high quality, safe, effective and coordinated service across the trust. The post holder will participate in provision of our bank holiday, weekend and late duty rotas.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
