Full Job Description
The post holder will perform, assess and interpret highly specialist & complex intra operative neurophysiology procedures tailored to specific patient needs and surgical procedures, under the supervision and guidance of Consultant medical staff in the absence of a Consultant Neurophysiologist, in collaboration with requesting Orthopaedic surgeons and Neurosurgeons.
Perform highly complex tasks with high accuracy and speed to achieve quality data / interpretation / reporting in challenging patients, circumstances or environments, e.g.; highly complex intra-operative monitoring procedures in theatre in absence of Consultant Neurophysiologist.
The post will involve providing clinical care for patients on the neurosurgical wards, the opportunity to attend clinic and theatre sessions alongside our Neurosurgical Consultant team., The post will involve providing clinical care for patients on the neurosurgical wards and ITU as well as theatre and MDT responsibilities. The senior clinical fellow candidate will have a dedicated consultant clinical supervisor and will be expected to participate in weekly teaching sessions.
A broad portfolio of research is undertaken including stem cell and neural transplantation, neurogenetics, and neuroepidemiology. Close academic links are enjoyed with the University Schools of Biosciences and Psychological Medicine and Medical Genetics. Cardiff and Vale UHB has a major R&D role and supports opportunities to develop clinical research studies including therapeutic trials. The UHB is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic neurosurgical team consisting of twelve Consultant Neurosurgeons as well as a Professorial Academic Unit.
