Full Job Description

YMCA Robin Hood Group run supported accommodation for vulnerable young people and adults who find themselves at risk of or are already homeless. We provide safe accommodation but also the support to assist our residents to move back to independent living. We believe that everyone has a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. We are looking to recruit a new Lead Social Worker to engage with vulnerable and complex needs adults to support them to progress towards independent living through referral into appropriate services. Following making referrals, you will support the individual until they are consistently engaged with the new relevant professionals and services. This may include supporting registration with GP surgeries, supporting to book and maintain sexual health clinics and assessing the individuals benefits to ensure they are receiving the appropriate financial support for their level of need. Due to the nature of our residents complex needs, crisis intervention work and liaison with Mental health teams will be a part of this role too. You will also ensure our residents and service is safeguarded at all times, following appropriate reporting routes for anything which concerns you. The role breaks down into 3 key areas: Service delivery directly with our residents Social work training to our wider Housing team Administration, Finance and Facilities to ensure your work is accurately recorded You can expect your day to day role to include:

  • Leading, developing, maintaining and implementing an effective social work provision for the YMCA Robin Hood Group Housing
  • Project
  • Provision of professional supervision, assessment and mentoring for students on social work training placements
  • Providing support, guidance and training to vulnerable people living in our accommodation to effectively prepare them to be
  • successful in independent living situations
  • Signposting opportunities to the Keyworker team, including sharing of training knowledge and skills

    You will be at least two years post qualified and possess the ability and experience to provide social work services and support
  • to vulnerable adults especially refugees and also those with mental health, drug and alcohol dependency issues and ex-offenders. You will ideally have experience of the voluntary, community sector, supported housing and of working directly with refugees. You will have gained experience of supporting, assessing, managing, supervising and advising students undertaking social work training. You will bring a wealth of experience of developing positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including managers, employees, refugees, residents, young people and external partners. Knowledge and Qualifications:
  • A Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) approved qualification e.g. a degree in Social Work, Certificate of Qualification in
  • Social Work (CQSW) or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
  • A practice educator qualification
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • A clear, in depth understanding of safeguarding and related issues
  • Understanding of issues affecting refugees, socially excluded young people, ex-offenders and homeless people
