Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit into our organisation a Lead Sonographer. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with a minimum level of training, of post graduate certificate in ultrasound, along with obstetrics and Gynaecology experience. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and experience of evidence-based sonography practice. To educate and update staff on medical ultrasound in pregnancy To promote a culture that encourages learning from each other to share best practice strategies To assist in the education and training of staff undertaking medical ultrasound sonography training To develop and monitor in-house education and training of staff To provide written and verbal reports on medical ultrasound sonography activity at NUPAS To manage own workload effectively in line with NUPAS visions and values. To be competent in the use of all the sonographic equipment used for ultrasound assessments. To ensure staff are effectively trained in the use of, and maintenance of
sonographic equipment at NUPAS. To ensure there is a streamlined process in place to raise equipment concerns To identify and participate in research and audit, and report results to senior leadership team. To travel across the organisation as required to observe clinical practice and support with training needs. To support operational delivery of care to patients by working in clinics as a sonographer. To highlight potential service development, via the correct pathways ensuring actions are effectively followed up. To participate in clinical meetings and ensure seamless communication organisationally relating to sonography. Travel across the sites will be required to support meeting attendance. To ensure pregnancy assessment ultrasounds are performed according to local and national policy. Support, audit, and education of ultrasound Sonographers. To always maintain and uphold the professional image of NUPAS, advocating pro-choice. To adhere to the Information Governance
requirements treating all information as confidential and abiding by the Data Protection Act and NUPAS policy. Comply with and advocate the use of NUPAS policies across the organisation. To undertake the review and design of policy as required, in line with internal NUPAS process for ratification. Adhere to NUPAS Infection Control Policies and make every effort to maintain high standards of Infection Control at all times. Ensure all sonography equipment is fit for the purpose required, and the correct infection control precautions are undertaken across the organisation in the use of sonography equipment. To take responsibility to safeguard young people and to protect vulnerable adults. To demonstrate personal commitment and contribution to effective teamwork across the full range of NUPAS activities including the maintenance of effective liaison with internal and external key people and organisations.
