Full Job Description

The Job holder will act as operational Lead Sonographer for St Bartholomew's Hospital ultrasound department and be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and management of the ultrasound service. The post holder will provide clinical support and mentoring to the diagnostic imaging team of sonographers, Trainee Sonographers, Imaging Assistants, admin, and clerical team and actively develop the service in conjunction with NHS guidelines and directives.

The post holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to undertake both clinical (20%) and managerial (80 %) duties, liaising with those involved to ensure the appropriate imaging, reporting and management of all ultrasound patients in the networked service.

The post holder will assist in the co-ordination, management and allocation of staff and resources within the networked ultrasound service as appropriate. They will operate effectively within the team of modality Lead Sonographers and Practice Educators. Provide Site presence and attend all relevant St Bartholomew's hospital site Operational Imaging meetings including Access, Senior Team, and Clinical governance. The post holder will ensure staff promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other Health Care Professionals together with outside agencies regarding patient care and progress.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced Sonographer to support to the Networked Ultrasound services and Site Lead Sonographers and provide clinical leadership to the Ultrasound service in St Bartholomew's Hospital in Barts Health NHS Trust.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to providing and developing a high-quality ultrasound service. In addition, they must be able to deputise for the Ultrasound Lead Sonographer for CDC and Networked Services in their absence and work closely with the other Lead Sonographers at The Royal London, Mile end, Whipps Cross and Newham University Hospitals and therefore be flexible in their approach to work. They should have a desire to teach others, have good organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to prioritise their workload and liaise with other departments. Statutory registration with a regulatory body and DMU or Post Graduate Cert / Diploma in Medical Ultrasound is essential.
