Full Job Description

We are seeking a FinOps Project Manager to drive and manage our cloud financial operations initiatives. This role will blend project management expertise with FinOps practices to deliver high-impact projects that enhance cloud cost efficiency, transparency, and financial accountability across teams. Working cross functionally with finance, engineering, and product teams, you will lead projects focused on optimizing cloud spend, establishing cost governance, and ensuring sustainable cloud usage., As a Lead Technology Project & Program Manager, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to,

  • Project Planning and Execution: Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines for cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives. Develop project plans, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a central point of contact for all FinOps projects, communicating regularly with stakeholders across finance, engineering, and product teams. Facilitate collaboration, manage expectations, and address project-related queries or concerns.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project timelines or objectives, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively manage issues as they arise.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Create and maintain project documentation, status reports, and performance summaries to ensure transparency on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Project Delivery: Responsible and accountable for the successful project delivery in accordance with project management method of work. Including but not limited to:
  • Ensuring all project initiation details are provided and coordinated with delivery teams.
  • Ensuring and controlling projects business requirements, scope, deadlines are defined and agreed across all stakeholders and managed by the change management procedure.
  • Identification and assessment of capabilities needed for successful projects delivery (competency, resources, tools etc.) and ensuring that the team possesses all the necessary capabilities are in place before projects start.
  • Ensuring and controlling project milestones are met on time, as well as all that projects' artifacts (OpAM, SDD and ORR checklists, requirements definition etc.) are released in a required quality and timely manner.
  • Reports on project status to stakeholders on regular basis and tracks progress against cost, timeframes and other key project success criteria. Clears blockers or other inhibitors to achieving project success.
  • Ensuring and controlling that risks registers are set up and are kept up to date, Cloud Cost Optimization: Identify, prioritize, and implement cost-saving opportunities across cloud resources, working closely with engineering teams to optimize resource allocation and reduce waste.
  • Cost Monitoring and Forecasting: Partner with finance and product teams to develop accurate cloud budgets and forecasts. Track and monitor spending against budgets, making recommendations to maintain financial targets.
  • Cost Allocation and Chargeback: Manage cost allocation strategies to provide transparency on cloud spending by teams, projects, or business units. Implement chargeback or showback models to drive accountability and informed decision-making.
  • Governance and Policy Development: Create policies for cloud cost control, including resource provisioning standards, approval workflows, and automated cost guardrails. Enforce governance to ensure compliance with FinOps best practices.
  • FinOps Tooling and Automation: Work with IT, Engineering, and Finance to implement and maintain tools for FinOps, such as dashboards for cost visibility, automated alerts for anomalies, and real-time reporting. Explore automation options to streamline cost management tasks.
  • Training and Advocacy: Promote a culture of financial accountability by educating teams on cloud cost optimization and FinOps principles. Conduct training sessions and build awareness of cost-saving practices.

    Preferred: Bachelor's degree or relevant industry experience, Extensive prior experience in project management and/or FinOps roles, with experience in cloud financial management, cloud cost optimization, or related areas. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is essential.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects on time and within budget. Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project).
  • Financial Analysis and Cloud Acumen: Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting cloud cost data. Knowledge of cloud pricing models and experience with FinOps tools such as CloudHealth, Cloudability, or similar.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis using tools like Excel, SQL, or other BI tools. Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., Python) is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey financial insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of a matrix organizational structure and application of project management techniques.
  • Experience in cross-functional and cross-cultural team management.
  • Certifications:
  • Certification in any of project methodology is preferable (PMP, Prince2, Scrum, Kanban, etc).
