An opportunity has arisen within the Posture and Mobility Service in Directorate of Artificial Limbs and Appliances Service (ALAS) to appoint a highly self-motivated and experienced Therapy team Lead. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a senior clinical role. Recent and relevant experience of working within a complex multi-disciplinary NHS environment is essential.
We are looking for a candidate with a flexible approach, positive attitude and good people management skills. Experience of managing transformational change is desirable.
The Posture and Mobility Service based at PMC Treforrest assess for and provides manual and powered wheelchairs cross South Wales. The service provides the delivery, collection, repair and maintenance of the wheelchair equipment. In South Wales there are approximately 45,000 long term users who require essential wheelchair and seating equipment ranging from a straightforward issue to an individual assessment for specialised and powered wheelchairs, including special seating.
This service comprises of a large team of professionals, technical and supporting staff.

The successful candidate will work closely in a senior leadership role with Clinical Scientists, Rehabilitation Engineers, Therapists, Medical Technical Officers, Field Services Engineers, Technicians and administrative staff within the Posture and Mobility Service (PMS) to ensure a seamless service to staff and patients.
This post would suit candidates such as AHPs ( OTs, Physiotherapists), Healthcare Scientists ( Clinical Scientists, Rehabilitation Engineers) with appropriate clinical/technical experience looking to develop and enhance their existing skills in all aspects of leadership and management. This is a key role in a large and challenging Directorate.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of all therapy staff within the posture and mobility Service; supported by the Directorate Management Team for ALAS. The Therapy Team lead will support the Directorate on all performance, finance, workforce and quality & safety matters within the Posture and Mobility Service. The post holder will be a key member of the senior clinical and technical leadership team, working closely with the Special seating, and Technical leads., Therapy team and will have a clinically autonomous input relating to the
management of complex clinical cases, working within multi-disciplinary
teams (MDT) in relation to the assessment and provision of posture and
mobility equipment. They will be an integral member of the senior clinical leadership team and contribute to ongoing service development, integration and redesign through the demonstration of expert clinical knowledge. They will professionally lead and co-ordinate all clinical contribution and continued professional development of the Therapy team in the Posture and Mobility Service, ALAS.
