Full Job Description

At University Hospitals of North Midlands an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our professional and progressive team of Clinical Coders. We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated individuals with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. You should be able to organise your own workload but also work as part of the team to deliver timely and accurate coded data to meet Trust deadlines., The main duties of the role will be to abstract, analyse and translate patient diagnoses and operative procedures, whilst applying national coding standards and local coding policies to assign codes to all inpatient episodes, in order to meet the Trust's monthly deadlines.

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing their monthly workload to meet tight deadlines, and will be required to code a variety of specialties. As a trainee coder it is compulsory to complete the National Clinical Coding Standards Course, following this you will be supported through our in-house training programme for trainee coders., We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales. We have put together a wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our goal is to be a world-class centre of achievement, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to learn, work and research.

Ideally you will be a Lead Clinical Coder with current experience who can transition quickly into our team on a Band 4. We offer the option of office-based, hybrid or remote working for Lead Coders.

However, we will welcome Trainees into our team on a band 3 salary progressing to band 4 on successful completion of our internal Trainee Programme. Trainees will be office-based initially with the possibility of transitioning to hybrid or home working following successful completion of initial training.

We are a family-friendly department with an exceptional approach to staff-wellbeing and offer flexible working hours to suit your needs.

These posts may be based in either our Royal Stoke or County Hospital teams, depending on the candidate's location.
