Full Job Description

The Learning & Apprenticeships Senior Manager will be responsible for creating a Connected System, bringing together strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Learning and Apprenticeship activities across Bupa Global, UK Insurance and Functions.

Operating in diverse and highly regulated markets, the Learning & Apprenticeships Senior Manager will mould the future of Bupa Insurance and Functions by delivering a wide array of learning programmes that offer individuals access to learning pertinent to their present roles and future career prospects. The successful candidate will contribute to the broader people strategy and is accountable for leading the Learning, Apprenticeship & Graduate teams to deliver the development, implementation and maintenance of an industry-leading learning curriculum and student experience proposition.

This role will spearhead the transformation of learning methodologies towards a digital-first approach, thereby maximising value for our people and the business from Learning and Apprenticeships. The role holder will play a pivotal role in persuading stakeholders and the learning community to accelerate this transition, delivering tangible business advantages and exceptional learning experiences.

How you'll help us make health happen:

Strategic Leadership: Harness maximum value from developing and implementing strategies for both Learning & Development and Apprenticeships departments, across Insurance and Functions, for both our People and the Business. Own the practice of Apprenticeships across the BGIUK MU. Share strategic objectives with Apprenticeship leads in the Provision businesses.

Stakeholders: Play a pivotal role in persuading stakeholders and the learning community to accelerate this transition, delivering tangible business advantages and exceptional learning experiences.

Learning Strategy: Develop, shape, and implement the learning strategy for UK Insurance and Bupa Global leveraging external best practice. The focus is on taking the area forward, with BAU (c20%) and Change/strategy (c80%) oriented learning (High Volume, Regulatory & Specialist).

Digital Learning Solutions: Spearhead the development and implementation of digital learning solutions, including platforms and virtual training programme and enhance learning experiences.

Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborate closely with senior leaders, People teams, and subject matter experts to create impactful learning programs. Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to curate relevant content.

Learning Needs Analysis: Carry out detailed LNA to identify learning needs across Bupa Insurance.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with apprenticeship standards and regulations. Own and ensure compliance with the FCA regulatory Training and Competence scheme across BINS. Ensure our staff receive appropriate learning to meet Mandatory Learning requirements across the MU.

Team Management: Lead a diverse team of in-house Learning Consultants and Associates, both directly and on a matrix basis, ensuring their development and the flexible allocation of resources.

  • Proven experience in strategic leadership roles, specifically within commercially focussed Learning and Development and/or Apprenticeships.

  • Strong understanding of the role of apprenticeships in workforce planning and talent acquisition.

  • Strong understanding of apprenticeship standards and regulations.

  • Experience in developing and managing complex programmes in an efficient way.

  • Experience in leading large change projects and flagship initiatives, contributing significantly across the entire learning cycle from scope to evaluation.

  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience in partnering with educational institutions, industry bodies and government agencies.

  • Proven experience in successfully leading large teams across a range of geographies locations and fostering a collaborative approach.

  • Experience in managing Apprenticeship Levy and reporting.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and drive forward strategic objectives.

  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity, prioritise effectively, and maintain a level of comfort in such situations.
