Learning and Engagement Manager (Maternity cover)

To manage, design and deliver a range of consistent, sustainable, high quality experiential learning programmes with Earthwatch target audiences, in support of our Next Generation work. To support the fundraising team to seek funding for these programmes and develop partnerships and collaboration opportunities with like-minded organisations and initiatives. Key deliverables:

• Provide subject matter expertise for the successful design and delivery of our Next Generation programmes including Teach Earth and Green Earth Schools.
• Deliver these programmes to education audiences (both students and teachers) ensuring learning components are delivered to Earthwatch standards and meet the needs of the partnership, programme and/or funder.
• Have up-to-date oversight of UK educational policy, curriculum and sector developments to ensure our programmes are relevant and impactful.
• Review and refresh learning and curriculum materials suitable for online and in-person programmes, update current education trends and policy details within Earthwatch branding standards.
• Ensure M&E data is collected for these programmes and provide curated impact case studies and assessments to raise profile of Earthwatch Europe and to support fundraising for the programmes.
• Own the programme delivery plan to ensure right projects are prioritised and training delivered.
• Build and nurture positive relationships with partners and funders.
• Effectively line manage Learning and Programme Coordinator.
General:
• Help to build excellence in Earthwatch's capacity to develop and deliver high impact, integrated research & learning programmes.
• Support the Learning, Communities and EDI Lead and Director of Programmes and Partnerships on other Nature in Cities activities as assigned, including our work with early career scientists.

Earthwatch is recruiting an experienced Learning and Engagement Manager as a maternity cover to manage, design and deliver our Next Generation experiential learning programmes. The ideal candidate will have an excellent and up-to-date understanding of the UK education policy and sector and bring subject matter expertise on learning design and delivery to education audiences, both teachers and students. The role requires emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills as well as being hands-on and flexible on project activities.,
• Strong understanding of and experience working with youth and adult learner-centred principles, models and practices.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a full learning programme life cycle for complex learning programmes for 'focus audience'
• Experience working with, or within formal education sector.
• Experience of delivering experiential learning programmes, facilitating participatory processes, group learning and development.
• Understanding of current UK environmental education policies, curriculums, challenges and wider environmental education sector projects and practices.
• Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
• Experience of collaborative approaches to working
• Understanding of environmental and sustainability agendas, with the ability to apply this understanding to learning programme design.
• Willingness to work irregular and long hours in the field, including business travel - requiring flexibility, organisational skills, collaboration and adaptability.
• Willingness to undertake DBS check.
Desirable
• Relevant qualifications (i.e. NLP, MBTI, CIPD, Qualified Teacher).
• Previous line management experience.
• Experience working in NGOs where resources can be scarce, and a creative outlook is required.
• Familiarity with different online learning systems and design tools.
• Full UK driving license.
