Full Job Description

We require a Learning Mentor - Behaviour to work as part of the alternative provision team. The successful candidate will be required to support students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and regulating their emotions.
Sackville is a popular and oversubscribed large, mixed, 11-18 comprehensive with 1650 students on roll. The vast majority of our students behave exceptionally well and as such, get the most out of their time with us and achieve well. A minority of students needs additional support and intervention to help ensure they achieve our high standards of behaviour and engagement in school. This role will involve working closely with our team of dedicated colleagues from all around the school, playing a vital role in maintaining a calm and purposeful environment and helping to ensure all students achieve.
Duties include mentoring students; running workshops and interventions supporting students to regulate their behaviour and make better choices and to support colleagues on walkabout, providing a calm learning environment, escorting students to our turn-around intervention space if their behaviour disrupts others learning.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with students quickly based on honesty, consistency, positive re-reinforcement and respect. Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills are required to facilitate a safe and positive learning environment. Previous experience in youth work or similar roles is desirable.
Sackville is an exceptionally friendly and supportive community built on strong relationships which allow every student to thrive. We invest in our staff, enabling them to pass on their knowledge and love of what they do, such that our students are given the very best experience and opportunities to succeed. We have acquired a deserved reputation for fighting for every child, to support every student in achieving their full potential and developing a lifelong love of learning.
Hours - 37 hours per week, across five full days, term time only.
