Full Job Description

The Secondary, Students and Young People Learning Officer is responsible for delivering an inclusive and decolonial programme which activates the Museum's world-class collections. This is a hands-on role where you will continue to deliver a range of activities: a set programme of high-quality taught sessions and talks; special projects for target audiences which may include outreach sessions; training opportunities for teachers; and resource development for pupils, teachers and young people during taught, self-guided or digital visits. The main focus for you will be working with Secondary School and FE groups, and delivering and developing programmes which reflect the key interests of visiting groups: art and design, history, and decolonial practice. Programmes will respond to the needs of pupils and teachers, curriculum and exam/award board requirements and the core values of the Museum. There will also be opportunity to support, develop and deliver engagement with students and young people. This role requires knowledge and understanding of decolonial and anti-racist learning practice. Applications from teachers are welcome.

You must have demonstrable experience and enjoyment of working with school-aged pupils and facilitating engaging sessions. Understanding how to learn from and teach with objects is important, alongside an enthusiasm for the collections of the Pitt Rivers Museum and a commitment to decolonial and anti-racist practice. It would be beneficial if you have experience of developing and delivering formal learning experiences in a school or museum, and creating informal learning opportunities for young people.
