Full Job Description

Heath Lane Academy seeks to appoint an ambitious and dynamic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with the drive, determination and skills to nurture and develop the potential of our increasingly aspirational pupils. We are a small secondary academy with a values-driven, family ethos. As the sole provider of 11-16 education for our immediate community of Earl Shilton and Barwell, we understand and embrace our responsibility to deliver the very best standard of education possible.

We particularly welcome applications from:

  • People who are Team-teach trained

  • Have experience of working in an alternative provision in Education

  • Our mission is to 'develop good people' through great education.

We want our pupils to grow into well-rounded, knowledgeable young people, determined to make the most of themselves, and to bring out the best in others.

Our vision for all of our stakeholders is the 'best in everyone' We want everyone in our school community to aspire to be the very best version of themselves by adhering to our core values of respect, kindness and hard work.

Our THRIVE and SEND teams are diligent and innovative and offer you:
  • An experienced team, which can help develop newer members of the profession and enhance those who have more experience in SEND and the opportunity to experience a range of different programmes including direct instruction.

  • An opportunity to help to continue to develop and grow our THRIVE provision for our most at risk students with our experienced THRIVE lead.

  • An opportunity to collaboratively support our most vulnerable students with raising their aspirations and improving their social and emotional wellbeing in school to help reintegrate/support students to access mainstream provision

  • Heath Lane Academy has recently joined United Learning, a large and highly successful multi-academy trust. United Learning brings a wealth of benefits that are already impacting upon our school, our staff, and most importantly, our pupils.

As a group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call 'the best in everyone'. We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation - which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone.

Furthermore, one of the many benefits of United Learning is the breadth and depth of resources and support available. With a shared curriculum, subject advisors, a national pool of peers, coaching, mentoring and individual CPD plans, your teaching career will develop and grow as much as you want it to. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.
