"The governing body and leaders support pupils' wider development. They are committed to making sure that pupils are prepared well for life in modern Britain" Ofsted October 2022

"Careers, advice and guidance is very strong across the school" Ofsted October 2022

St John Bosco College are looking to appoint an able, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive, passionate and dedicated team of professionals. Our mission is based around 'without confidence and love, there can be no true education'.

We are therefore looking for candidates who are committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment for all students with special educational needs. As an LSA you will lead on the development of students' literacy and communication skills and contribute to the supportive environment that we aim to provide in our Inclusive school.

The main responsibilities of the LSA role will be to support those students with SEN needs across the school. The role will include supporting students in the mainstream classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, developing their independent learning, social and emotional regulation skills.

Applications are invited from those with good interpersonal skills and experience in supporting young people with Autism. Previous experience of supporting secondary aged students with SEN needs would be desirable but is not essential.

You must also have good literacy and numeracy skills and be committed and reliable, with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient and empathetic nature.

Our school is committed to continual professional development, which makes this a great opportunity for career development as the school offers a programme of regular training which includes access to NVQ qualification for Teaching Assistants.

Our school was judged "good" by Ofsted in October 2022 and "outstanding" by the Archdiocese of Southwark in May 2019. Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to 'earn their own bread'.

Completed applications should be returned to the school preferably by email to: apply@sjbc.wandsworth.sch.uk or by post. CVs are not accepted.

Please note that if you complete the application form on an Apple Mac you must use 'Adobe Acrobat Reader' (you can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ ) and not the 'Preview' application that comes with the computer due to an incompatibility.

Early applications are welcome as we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date if we find a suitable candidate.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Closing date: 12:00, Friday 18 October 2024
