Full Job Description

To work in partnership with class
teachers to support learning with individuals or small groups of children under
the direction of the class teacher.

Learning Support Assistants will
be expected to:

1. Work with the class teacher
and implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with
the teacher

2. Adjust learning activities
based on pupils' responses as appropriate to achieve effective learning
outcomes

3. Keep notes of children's work
and provide information to the teacher for monitoring, assessing and recording
pupil progress/activities. Contribute to review meetings as necessary

4. Provide feedback to pupils in
relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher

5. Support learning by
arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the
teacher

6. Liaise with other teachers and
specialist staff, provide information about pupils as appropriate and support
programmes of work which they may set

7. Deliver Literacy and Numeracy
intervention strategies as appropriate

8. Understand and support pupils
with special needs. Be prepared to support children with sensory, physical,
learning and behaviour needs

9. Support the work of volunteers
and other learning support staff in the classroom

10. Assist with break-time
supervision including facilitating games and activities

11. Assist with escorting pupils
on educational visits

12. Assist with the preparation
and maintenance of stocks of materials and resources. Maintain equipment so
that it is easily accessible to children

13. Carry out clerical and
display tasks as directed by the class teacher

14. Attend to pupils' personal
care needs including help with social, welfare and health matters including the
administration of first aid at an appropriate level

15. Establish and maintain good
relationships with parents and carers

16. Work within the school's
framework promoting equal opportunities for all and embrace the inclusive,
diverse nature of the school community

17. Work as a member of a team,
showing initiative as required

18. Ensure that confidentiality
is maintained at all times

19. Carry out any other duties
requested by the Headteacher

Training
Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Pleasant street Primary will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard, which includes

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard
CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent
Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (by exception)This will be delivered through Pleasant street Primary's dedicated training provider, Realise.

Qualifications required
English and Maths to a Grade 4 or equivalent - desirable
Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age in a voluntary or work experience capacity is desirable.
