Full Job Description

Birmingham City Council is actively seeking a dedicated Learning and Workforce Development Officer to join our City Housing Directorate. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and implementation of our City Housing's Workforce Delivery Plan. You will be integral in driving the strategic outcomes of the council, focusing on talent and learning solutions that enhance service delivery and workforce capability.,

  • Providing expert talent and learning advice, ensuring alignment with housing related statutory and regulatory obligations, service standards, and council policies.
  • Developing and supporting the execution of talent development programs including mentoring, succession planning, leadership development, and apprenticeship programs.
  • Operating the Learning Management System and managing information resources, supporting the workforce to access learning solutions and relevant, well organised resources.
  • Engaging with the workforce, training providers and external partners to understand skills gaps and opportunities for staff development.
  • Supporting the collation of information and data to enable accurate reporting, contributing to strategic decision-making and continuous service improvement.

    Successful candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to championing and developing the professional development and continuous learning of the City Housing Directorate's workforce. They should possess and understanding of learning and development methodologies and the ability to interpret capability gaps and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Candidates will have experience in a learning and development role with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate information to diverse audiences.
