Full Job Description
We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
Are you an advocate for excellence in Children's nursing and want to be involved in teaching the next generation of Children's nurses? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 months' secondment into a Lecturer's post in Children's nursing here at the University of Cumbria, working with students who are studying a pre-registration nursing degree. You will work as part of our dynamic and inspiring team of nurse lecturers and sit within the friendly, supportive, innovative Nursing team.
Responsibilities of the role are teaching and assessment, module coordination, supporting students with their academic studies, their clinical practice experiences and pastoral support. Additional responsibilities will include the promotion of nursing to prospective students, working with practice partners and potential employers. Our programme is delivered face-to-face with some online delivery and is designed to reflect the NMC's Future Nurse Standards. Effective links with practice will be maintained with the role of link lecturer (Academic Assessor), working closely with students and practice partners. Every day is different and rewarding.
This exciting opportunity is suitable for anyone who has experience of teaching or anyone wishing to begin a career in academia and brings with them contemporary knowledge from practice.
The University of Cumbria takes great pride in our Nursing students, who have an excellent reputation and have been shortlisted for national awards.
We are seeking innovative, creative, high quality researchers, and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.
In return, the University offers an attractive benefits package including 35 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 25 research and scholarly activity days, support for professional development, support to achieve Higher Education Academy/Advance HE accreditation, mentor provision in the first year of employment and opportunity for career development.
