Full Job Description

Due to an increase in course demand, we are looking for an Early Years Lecturer to join our Early Years, Health & Care Provision. The successful candidate will help to transform the lives of our learners by planning, teaching and assessing on the Early Years Level 2 qualification. Bradford College staff are working together to transform lives. We are aiming to provide our students with an outstanding student experience. This is a part-time role (0.5FTE) therefore the successful candidate would be expected to work 17.5 hours per week. Responsibilities include:

  • To teach courses specified by the Head of Department/Head of School or team leader.
  • To produce and implement detailed weekly breakdowns / Schemes of Work and lesson planning.
  • To take some course leadership responsibilities including student and course performance data and monitoring
  • To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance during all assigned classes.
  • To participate in Course Committee activities.
  • To direct students actively towards safe industrial working practices where appropriate.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, monitoring, profiling and assessment of students or trainees.
  • To participate in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers.
  • Provide individual learning plans and support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • Supervision and management of students on placements in conjunction with assessors and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
  • Act as academic and pastoral tutor to students.
  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.
  • To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.

  • Minimum of level 3 qualified in the subject area
  • A relevant teaching qualification or working towards this qualification (consideration may be given to applicants who have significant industry experience/subject area qualifications who would be prepared to undertake this training while in post)
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Experience
  • Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance /data to support it (e.g Lesson observations, retention, and achievement data)
  • Experience in high-quality, reflective teaching within an FE environment
  • Experience in the effective design and delivery of high-quality inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of content and methods of teaching and /or supporting learning including the value and use of learning technologies
  • A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of a relevant subject area.
  • Experience in improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
