Full Job Description
We require an engaging teacher to join our Foundation Learning LDD/SEND provision to support learners with severe learning difficulties to prepare for adulthood. Sparsholt college has developed a bespoke curriculum for young people with severe and complex learning difficulties. This Ofsted outstanding provision is designed around the preparing for adulthood principals ensuring all students develop their employability and independence skills; that they are part of the community, both the college and the wider community; and that they have time to learn the skills to keep them healthy. The provision is outcome focussed and students are encouraged to be aspirational. Our study programmes are practical and hands on, with strong links in the wider community. We are also working closely with Hampshire County Council on a five day offer for young people leaving school at 16 and developing community groups for life after college in conjunction with adult services. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to the lives of young people with severe and complex learning difficulties.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of pupils with SEND in particular SLD and ASC
- The ability to support the raising of standards and aspirations of these young people through curriculum development.
- The ability to keep accurate records and use data from these records to improve the quality of teaching.
- The ability to work as a member of a team both with colleagues at the college and with other professionals, from outside the organisation.
- Be committed to improving the provision offered to our students.
- An ability to focus on finding solutions to the issues and problems.
- Have good understanding of the preparing for adulthood themes.
- Skills to teach across an ability range from Entry 1 to Level 1 Qualifications required: Degree, Teaching Qualification, or willingness to attain a level 5 teaching qualification for which support will be provided. Desirable: Experience of entry level and level one curriculums, various awarding bodies including City and Guilds, ASDAN and Laser and/or RARPA (recognising and recording progress and achievement) Want to make a career change and move into teaching?
