The School has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Our academic members of staff include dental professionals, social workers, nurses, allied health care professionals, psychologists, and sociologists. The School is run over two campuses, based at Southend and Colchester. Academic staff are supported by a team of administrative staff based at both Colchester and Southend campuses. The School is undergoing exciting changes and expansion with the introduction of a host of new courses, including Nurse Associate Apprenticeships and the Master in Global Public Health.
We are looking for a lecturer with a focus on Clinical Practice and on delivering high-quality teaching and support for student nurses and our apprentices. You will play a crucial role in shaping the clinical skills and professional development of students through practical, hands-on learning experiences in the classroom and in the wide range of care environments utilised by the school. This is an exciting time to join us as we drive innovation and growth in all aspects of practice education across our nursing and apprenticeship courses.
The leadership element of this role incorporates accountability for quality assurance of their teaching and learning and peer review of others to sustain and develop high quality clinical education. You will have particular responsibilities for developing clinical education across different settings. The post holder will undertake a range of education roles including academic assessor, personal tutor and link lecturer for students. You will also contribute to critical review, audit and other quality assurance processes.
The successful candidate will have a first degree Master's in Nursing, or equivalent professional practice experience, along with a recognised teaching/assessing qualification which can include qualification as a practice assessor or equivalent.
Being registered as a Nurse with the NMC and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate are essential to the post.
