Lecturers at Shuttleworth College play a pivotal role in the success of our students through their dedication to preparing, delivering, assessing, and verifying subject specialisms across various courses and levels within Animal Science. By providing a high-quality learning experience, they empower students to excel in their studies and reach their full potential. Beyond the classroom, our lecturers actively contribute to curriculum development and innovative teaching methods, ensuring that the education we offer remains cutting-edge. Additionally, they participate in marketing and promotion activities, supporting a wide range of programmes and learning opportunities that attract and inspire future learners.

Ideal candidates will have experience of possessing a deep knowledge of current issues and developments within the animal management sector, coupled with practical experience in the field. They should have recent experience of delivering engaging content to groups or classes of learners and demonstrate a track record of working constructively to achieve team objectives and meet deadlines. Evidence of high performance in previous roles is essential, as is experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, candidates should be able to provide evidence of their understanding of how to promote equality and diversity within their job role, alongside the following qualifications:

  • Recognised Teacher Qualification (PGCE, CertEd, QTS) or willingness to attain

  • Degree Level Qualification in relevant subject or equivalent e.g. HND

  • Good standard of General Education to include Maths and English at Level 2

    Shuttleworth College is set within the stunning location of Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade. It's a specialist land-based college, offering agricultural and environmental education, alongside animal sciences, equine studies and outdoor adventure all delivered within acres of parkland, farmland, lakes and woodland.
