Full Job Description

The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages are seeking to appoint a 6-month Fixed term Lecturer in Galician and Spanish Language. The Lecturer is responsible for planning and delivering language teaching within the Sub-Faculty, including marking work and participating in oral examinations. The Lecturer will give classes in the written and the oral use of Galician and Spanish up to a maximum of 16 hours a week in each week of each term. The successful candidate will also be responsible for undertaking activities and running events to raise the profile of Galician and Spanish within the institution, and to participate in appropriate administrative duties in the sub-faculty as required. They are expected to keep up to date with innovations in pedagogical practice.

Applicants must possess fluency in Galician and Spanish equivalent to native-speaker level; have an undergraduate degree in Galician/Spanish, translation or English taught in Galician/Spanish, with a significant literature, language, translation or writing component; experience in teaching Galician as a foreign language in higher education; interest and/or experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language; familiarity with, and an interest in, current pedagogy including the development and dissemination of new teaching materials; excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a teams, and skills in the use of technology (video, audio, IT) for language teaching.
