LECTURER: Multi Skills - Prison Education - HMP ErlestokeLocation: HMP Erlestoke, Erlestoke House, SN10 5TUHours: 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per yearFlexible Working: We welcome applications from those seeking flexible or part time hoursSalary: Approx. up to £34,000 per annum (subject to experience)IN SHORTAre you a skilled trades person looking to move into teaching or already a talent lecturer who is looking to transform lives through learning?Have you ever thought of a career in Prison Education?Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMP Erlestoke is seeking innovative Multi Skills Lecturer to deliver to a diverse group of learners, helping to build their confidence, develop their skills and achieve within a college environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of vocational skills, helping learners to develop practical abilities that will aid their rehabilitation and improve their employment prospects upon release.Plan, prepare, and
deliver lessons in vocational subjects painting and decorating and at least one of the following -plumbing, brickwork, and general maintenanceAssess learners' needs and provide individualized support to help them achieve their learning goals.Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of learners.Monitor/Record learners' progress, providing regular feedback and support.Collaborate with staff and educators to support the overall educational program.Qualifications and Experience:Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).Vocational qualifications and experience in painting and decorating and at least one of the following - plumbing, brickwork, and general maintenance.Ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.Commitment to promoting equality and diversity in education.MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability or any other individual characteristic. The prison
is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes. HMP Erlestoke's focus is firmly fixed on reducing re-offending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro-social environment.Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more. The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 11.30am, 2.00pm - 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am - 11.30am.Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year.
