Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Games Design and Programming

As part of our investment into the Games Development Department at Staffordshire University London, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Games Design and Programming. Successful candidates will have a portfolio of Games Programming and Technical Design. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic new colleagues to join our dynamic, future-focused, and expanding subject community. We have an impressive sector-wide reputation for our Games Design and Programming provision, with a large team of academics across two capuses. As a member of our team, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to our award-winning provision, which has recently been revalidated. The university and our students regularly win national awards with the games industry, and our graduates have gone on to successful careers in the UK and international games industry. Your teaching will focus on programming and design modules, and you will also supervise final-year projects, and help
prepare students for their post-university careers.
In addition to developing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our ambitious research, scholarship, and enterprise strategy, working alongside colleagues in our Art, Design, and Technology teams. The department is highly interdisciplinary, covering all aspects of game production and a unique environment to develop a distinctive academic portfolio.
In addition to your teaching and scholarship, you will be involved in recruitment activities, including open days. You will also contribute to community engagement, including schools, colleges and local industry. The institution works closely with the local community and has a strong civic engagement portfolio. You will also be expected to support and help us innovate our ongoing recruitment activities., The main responsibilities of our Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Games Design and Programming will be to:
o Develop teaching material
o Teach and assess students
o Demonstrate techniques
o Engage in CPD and maintain subject proficiency
o Engage with recruitment and outreach activities
o Participate in or contribute towards research or scholarship.
o Liaise with industry partners
About the Department
We are one of the largest Games Development Departments in the world and have an impressive international reputation for the excellence of our taught provision. We have a large and skilled team, with over 70 academics across two campuses covering all technical aspects of Games Production, split across Art, Design, and Technology subject areas. We have an exciting portfolio of sector-leading undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered on campus. The department is part of the wider School of Digital, Technologies, Innovation and Business (DTIB). The school is a highly interdisciplinary environment, bringing together areas as diverse as fine art, fashion, computing, engineering, media, theatre and various aspects of game production.
