Full Job Description

Post holders will participate in a 1:8 rota for out of hours service provision. This will initially be based at Eastbourne District General Hospital, but would include some cross site working once the post holder is familiar with both locations. Duties average 48 hours per week, including on calls. Rotas are EWTD compliant., During normal hours there will be the opportunity to develop skills and experience across the wide range of anaesthetic subspecialties available in the Trust. This will include covering elective and emergency lists on either hospital site. Initial focus will be on acquiring basic anaesthetic competencies as described by the RCoA IAC, as well as gaining familiarity with adult intensive care medicine. All clinical work in either anaesthesia or intensive care will be under an appropriate level of supervision from a named consultant.
Successful candidates will be encouraged to join our trainees for their weekly teaching sessions on Tuesday afternoon.
On-call (weekdays 1800-2030h, 2000-0830h, weekends)
On-call duties will initially be based at Eastbourne DGH, working a 1:8 rota of 2 resident anaesthetists, although it should be noted that a move to one of the CQ on call rotas may be needed in future to ensure full cover across both sites out of hours. The post holder will be paired with an experienced specialty doctor or ST4+ level trainee for these duties. The resident team is supported by an on call consultant for remote advice and/or support on site as needed.
