Legal Advisor - Data Privacy

The Legal & Business Affairs team has an opportunity to recruit a Legal Advisor who will support the Legal Data Privacy team on a permanent contract basis. You will support various work streams of the ITV group data privacy programme as well as reviewing and advising on inherent risks in the delivery of ITV's core commercial objectives supporting the broadcast, streaming (ITVX), TV productions, corporate and HR and technology business units. The data privacy work includes both direct to consumer and business to business issues. Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating data privacy aspects of a range of third party supplier contracts, including due diligence relating for services and technology tools, for example, framework agreements, and statement of works.
• Drafting, reviewing and providing legal advice on commercial contracts data protection aspects for commercial partners, including commercial contracts and data sharing agreements and to support interdependent strategic projects.
• Advising on PECR and GDPR requirements for direct marketing, targeted advertising, ad tech and data sharing.
• Advising on data protection law for digital product development, including apps for consumers and others, including relevant statutory codes of practice (for example ICO Children's Code)
• Advising on data protection law for production and broadcast of television programmes
• Support integration of newly acquired entities within the Data Privacy Program and assess impact on privacy compliance activities.
• Drafting and updating internal and external facing data protection documents, including policies, privacy notices, and guidelines.
• Conducting privacy assessments on a range of and where required completing DPIAs. Identifying associated privacy risks and recommended risk mitigations.
• Assisting implementing and improving the data protection compliance framework for ITV Studios in the UK and EMEA.
• Assisting with advising on emerging data privacy and technology regulatory issues which affect ITV's business
• Adhoc support to review of data subject rights and responses on data privacy related complaints
• Assisting training of ITV staff on data protection law and ITV's processes
  
  Qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive
• A number of years working experience post qualification
• Experience of advising on a range of issues in data protection/privacy law, regulatory and ideally HR related and technology/digital issues
• Strong background in data privacy and preferably with commercial or technology experience
• Strong data protection law experience gained in private practice or in house legal team. EU GDPR experience preferred.

• Media, production, broadcasting, or adtech experience preferred but not essential
• Exceptional team player with the ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various key ITV teams, including other ITV legal and business affairs teams, commercial teams, production teams, HR teams, and Group Tech teams, among others.
• Excellent communicator who can develop and maintain internal and external relationships
• Good understanding of commercial drivers and practical application of data protection law
• Ability to manage a high volume workload which requires prioritisation of work to meet deadlines.
