Full Job Description

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for advising the UK People Team on UK employment law and Employee Relations ("ER") matters including advising on ad hoc employment law questions, helping to manage Tribunal claims, developing policies and procedures and managing and/or leading initiatives. The role will also have some involved in People matters across the EMEA region.,

  • Point of contact for all UK employment law queries from the People team (and business where relevant) including advice on certain employee relations issues (grievance/disciplinary/capability etc.) and assisting in managing EMEA matters.
  • Developing and drafting policies and procedures and delivering training on the same.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures, across EMEA are compliant, consistent, user friendly and accessible by all staff.
  • Working as part of cross-functional teams as ER/employment law subject matter expert (SME) and leading/managing ER focused initiatives. Ensure all projects and initiatives are communicated with all key stakeholders including People, Total Rewards and the Management Population.
  • Ensure the delivery of advice and or initiatives constantly reinforces CBRE's' culture and behaviours.
  • Assisting in managing UK Tribunal claims and EMEA employment litigation and assisting in reporting of the same.
  • Act as the employment law SME for all Trust and compliance matters working with the Trust and compliance team (globally and across EMEA) to advise on investigations and co-ordinate training where necessary.
  • Provide support and expertise to the senior team to deliver effective organisational change using a range of external and internal resources.
  • Act as SME for on any collective negotiations.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on all employment tribunal (or EMEA equivalents) keeping the VP updated on a monthly basis
  • Work with the Head of ER to identify and mitigate any major risks that occur as a result of legislative changes.
  • Provide any UK employment law specialist expertise as and when required on any larger corporate programmes, Bids or Acquisitions.
  • Help to manage 3rd party Employment law support and providers.

    Qualified employment law solicitor (England & Wales) with 5PQE Strong knowledge and experience of transfer of undertakings (TUPE) required particularly in relation to service provision changes and knowledge of trade union laws desirable
  • Experience of working within a matrix organisation desirable and advantageous to demonstrate this in an EMEA environment, if not Global.
  • People/ER background within an operational People or ER role an advantage.
  • Must be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across the entire EMEA region to ensure delivery of change
  • Must be numerate and confident with numerical data.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Ability to influence senior global stakeholders in order to deliver the change programmes required.
