The role works across the EU subsidiaries and liaises with HQ in Korea.

    This role is highly demanding but also exciting and intellectually rewarding with opportunities to get closely involved in many different business areas and develop new skills across additional legal areas.

    This responsibility requires the provision of prompt, reasoned and commercially focused legal advice on a broad spectrum of antitrust, consumer, and regulatory matters. Specifically, the role will include:

  • advising the business on consumer law requirements, with a focus on ensuring marketing initiatives, product information and service terms and conditions comply with the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, Consumer Rights Directive, and Unfair Contract Terms Directive respectively.

  • working alongside the European Public Affairs team to find opportunities and risks for the business arising from recent or upcoming legal initiatives.

  • drafting and maintaining guidelines and training materials for EO and the European subsidiaries, and delivering antitrust, consumer law and other regulatory compliance training to various business divisions, as well as occasional briefings on other areas of law;

  • supporting, and where required, leading on the management of regulatory investigations and merger inquiries at EU and occasionally national level, including monitoring and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from authorities in connection with such investigations/enquiries

  • managing pan-European legal advice requests to provide the business with a consolidated legal view on a given subject or project.

  • advising on intellectual property matters, particularly trademarks and copyright;

  • acting as the first port of call for niche regulatory requests outside of the established work areas, such as Works Council regulation, product liability, right to repair/eco-design and medical device regulation; keeping up to date our record of key legislation and relevance for Samsung.

    The successful candidate will also be responsible for acting as a project manager on business initiatives requiring coordination across multiple legal fields and business teams,

  • Qualifying law degree.

  • Understanding of at least two out of antitrust consumer/marketing, IP and general regulatory law. The candidate will ideally have at least 3 years' experience of working in these areas of law in a well-established legal practice, major corporate and/or regulator.

  • In-house experience advising on antitrust matters, and/or in a tech business is desirable.

  • Experience working with regulatory investigations (e.g. RFIs) vertical restraints (distribution arrangements) and eCommerce are desirable, but not essential.
