Full Job Description

As our Senior Legal Officer you will be providing legal support on housing, civil litigation and employment matters. You'll work alongside other members of the Legal Services Team in supporting the Council's ambitious Transformation Programme, including advocacy, drafting and/or negotiating for cases within the areas of responsibility of the role with limited supervision. You will also where necessary and depending on your relevant experience and areas of expertise provide support in other areas within the legal team. This role is 3 days a week, with a requirement to be in-office on a Monday, and flexibility with the other days worked.

  • Holds a minimum of CILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice or equivalent
  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, or a commitment towards qualifying as a Solicitor, Barrister
  • If not qualified as above, a minimum of five years' experience within the relevant field(s)
  • Demonstrable experience of advising on housing, civil litigation and employment matters
  • Strong general knowledge of housing, civil litigation and employment law and excellent drafting skills to capture commercial concepts
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of having conduct of and running a varied caseload of matters with minimal supervision
