Full Job Description

The systems development team consists of a Senior Systems Developer and a Software Test Analyst. The Apprentice Systems Developer will support the Senior Systems Developer in developing and maintaining software solutions primarily within the core operational system, initially directed by the Senior Systems Developer, but moving into more independent working as skills are developed. This is a level-4 apprenticeship, where you will be able to learn on the job and be allocated 20% of paid study time to study towards the course. The Apprenticeship course will be delivered by Firebrand Training, full details of the course are available here: Software Developer Apprenticeship Standard ' Firebrand Training Salary progression will be at the end of the first year of the course and on successful completion of the programme. Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Software Developer apprenticeship:

  • BCS Level 4 Diploma in Software Development Methodologies
  • CertNexus Cyber Secure Coder
  • Industry recognised certification in one of Java or Python

The team ensures robust and reliable integration between all systems whether internal, University-managed or external. Our activities primarily take place at Madingley Hall (a residential Grade I listed building), which provides facilities for conferences and events, and a full hotel service. Madingley Hall has 13 meeting rooms, 62 ensuite bedrooms, a bar and lounge, set in 8 acres of grounds (including Capability Brown designed gardens).
