Full Job Description

To drive and be responsible for any allocated collection vehicle and to undertake as leader of a team, duties connected with the removal of household, industrial and commercial refuse from a variety of locations e.g. houses, shops, schools.,

  • To carry out maintenance and safety checks on any allocated vehicle and associated equipment (e.g. tyre, oil and water checks and cleaning) at the beginning and end of shift to ensure they are safe to use and fit for purpose.
  • To ensure that all health & safety working policies and safe systems of work are being adhered to (including those of any crews members).
  • To drive and operate and allocated vehicle in accordance with the Waste Management Services' Driver Manual and Councils Driver Code of Conduct.
  • To report any crew accidents or incidents appropriately to managers at the time/on the day that they occur.
  • To collect and tip ALL correct waste within an allocated round and be responsible for the operation of that round.
  • Key Requirements: To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:
  • Clean LGV driving license
  • Experience of driving LGV in delivering waste collection duties
  • Experience of supervising a small group of manual workers
  • Ability to undertake significant amounts of walking and manual handling (lifting/manoeuvring of waste containers).
  • Ability to have the mental capacity to always be alert to hazards
  • Ability to undertake high levels of work whilst always considering the health & safe requirements for yourself, your colleagues and the general public.
