Full Job Description

  • Manage the library stock by using Heritage

  • Manage the digital library via Libby

  • Conduct reviews of the current stock and advise the committee on upcoming issues

  • Conduct stock counts on library resources

  • Coordinate with the London Library on Member requests

  • Manage the book buying programme

  • Manage the periodicals list and presentation of the offer

  • Deal with loans and returns and log all activity

  • Curate the presentation of the shelves and stack in all libraries

  • Maintain appropriate levels of stock

  • Take minutes at the library committee

    We are recruiting for a Full Time Librarian to join the Club. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of the role in a similar environment and a friendly, reader-focused demeanour. We are looking for someone who is highly personable, knowledgeable and has a working understanding of how a digital and physical library functions., Is educated to degree level in humanities or a similar subject.

  • Is able to communicate effectively, and converse with Members in a scholarly manner.

  • Has a genuine interest in literature.

  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

    The Oxford and Cambridge Club is an exclusive private members Club with Grade II listed Clubhouse in Central London. The Club has 46 bedrooms, extensive libraries (with an array of books including digital), a fine-dining restaurant, 3 banqueting suites, two bars, 2 squash courts and a billiards room. The Club has nearly 5000 members.

    The role is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. £40,000 pa, Staff fund (bonus on a discretionary basis)
