Full Job Description

  • Deal with general enquiries to the department for ad hoc services.
  • Perform basic sewing tasks both by hand and using a sewing machine.
  • Repair, alter, and maintain hospital linen such as gowns, bed sheets, and uniforms.
  • Ensure all linen meets the high standards of cleanliness and presentation expected within a healthcare setting.
  • To ensure delivery levels are maintained to service level agreements.
  • Deal with uniform enquiries for ordering and fitting.
  • Record all information as required to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Work closely with the hospital's laundry and housekeeping teams to manage linen stock.
  • Control and carry out curtain changing programme.
  • Carry out other duties as required appropriate to this post.

    Are you skilled in sewing and passionate about contributing to patient care? We are looking for a dedicated Linen Assistant to join our team to ensure we provide a proficient linen service to all wards and departments., Proficiency in hand-sewing and using sewing machines.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to communicate and work with patients, other members of staff and visitors to the Hospital.
  • Awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Understanding of a range of routine work procedures.
  • Ability to organise own day-to-day work.
  • Understanding of relevant Manual Handling procedures and protocols.
  • Understanding of basic Infection Control.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work.
  • Ability to use a variety of transportation equipment.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
