Full Job Description

Are you a Linux guru? As a Linux Technician, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and upgrading Linux systems across the CCTV estate and provide technical support. Based at our Liverpool head office, you will also support our brand-new site at Omega Business Park where travel will be required in line with business requirements. In this role, you'll be responsible for the supply and maintenance of the Linux platform, provide 3rd line CCTV support, and troubleshoot issues. Working closely with IT specialists, Operations, Transport and Maintenance teams, you will ensure the systems are up to date and the service is available to support business needs. Beyond daily tasks, you'll take a proactive approach to develop and update your knowledge on the Linux operating system. Additionally, you'll take a hands-on approach to contribute to the continuous improvement and efficiency of the internal systems and applications.,

  • System Management: Supply and maintain the Linux platform used for the colleague portal and CCTV system.
  • Support: Provide 3rd line CCTV support by troubleshooting, fault fixing and resolving issues as they occur.
  • Planning: Ensure CCTV plans and systems are kept up to date and adequate services are available to support business needs.
  • Project Assistance: Ensure new store and distribution centre projects are delivered and are on-time with all expected infrastructure is in place.
  • Personal Development: Proactively develop and update your knowledge of the Linux operating system and applications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement and efficiency of internal systems and processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT, Warehouse, Transport, Building and Maintenance teams to ensure a smooth and consistent delivery.

    Experience of working with Linux and Ubuntu/Debian.
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals, PC hardware and software including BIOS/system upgrading.
  • Proven experience in database management, SQLite and MySQL in addition to bash scripting, docker, database and hardware visualisation.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workloads.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, personal development and continuous improvement.
