Litigation Lawyer

The Legal Services team is led and managed by the Deputy Director, Legal Services. The team provides legal and professional advice on all aspects of public law relevant to Ofsted. The purpose of this role is to provide direct litigation support or commission legal services as required by Ofsted., The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the person specification.
You will also be asked to provide information within the “Employer/Activity History” section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this may be used in the sifting process).
Assessment and Interview:
Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlisting stage will be invited to an assessment and interview where they will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and the experience/technical skills set out in section 3 of the job specification.
We will invite the most suitable candidates to attend an assessment and interview during the week commencing Monday 4 November and Monday 11 November 2024. The assessment and interview will be at held one of our Ofsted offices or via Microsoft Teams. This will be confirmed nearer the time.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.

Technical skills
We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
+ Significant knowledge and experience in litigation including applying public law principles via judicial review and/or statutory review.
+ Experience of providing complex high calibre legal advice and guidance.
+ Ability to identify legal and litigation risks and underlying causes, identifying solutions and ensure effective use of time and resource.
