Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced litigator to join our busy Litigation team. The Litigation Team deals with civil and criminal litigation, licensing, employment and debt recovery. Your caseload will predominantly consist of prosecutions and licensing; from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court, as well as a range of general litigation matters., This organisation has signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment.     The ideal candidate will have local government, prosecution and licensing experience. You must have the ability and willingness to assist on other areas covered by the team. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, are able to plan and organise your own workload with minimal supervision in a supportive environment. You must be able to work to tight court deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic and committed.
  • You must be a qualified Solicitor / Barrister / Chartered Legal Executive. You will undertake advocacy in Courts / Tribunals, attend meetings / committees, give advice to Senior Managers and officers and should have excellent drafting and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and be a pro-active team player who is able to work as part of a small but busy team; can react positively to changing priorities and is willing to embrace new technology and ways of working as well as possessing good interpersonal skills. Local authority experience is preferable however Rochdale Council will consider private practice and public sector candidates.
