Full Job Description

The Event Producers are a core part of the Live Events team that delivers all the events for the BBC Proms season as well as some of Radio 3's major events. Working closely with the Live Events Team Manager and Operations Project Manager their main role is to manage the logistical planning of Prom concerts through to the production of those events for live audiences and broadcast (Radio 3 and TV Music). They have specific responsibility for the management of complex projects in the season and oversee the day-to-day work of the Assistant Event Producers. They report to the Live Events Team Manager.,

  • To work closely with the Live Events Team Manager, Artistic Planning Team and Operations Project Manager on planning across the Proms season.
  • To manage and produce complex Prom events to a high level at the Royal Albert Hall and other venues where relevant.
  • To supervise the day-to-day work of the Assistant Event Producers on their allocation of Proms. Mentor and guide them.
  • To manage, brief and work collaboratively with a huge variety of stakeholders (internal and external)
  • To design and produce event paperwork to a high standard - concert summaries, stage layouts & rehearsal schedules.
  • Be responsible for briefing and supervising staff on events.
  • To monitor and help manage the live event timeline.
  • To deliver events which comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation/procedures working closely with the Operations Project Manager.
  • To manage the concert production budget and work closely with the Live Events Team Manager & Operations Project Manager on other budgetary matters.
  • To support the delivery of accessibility requirements, sustainability, diversity and inclusion within the live events environment., You will be required to work long hours and some weekends on events across the year - particularly over the duration of the Proms season in the summer. Some days each week during the festival will be spent working on site at events.

    We're looking for a positive team player who will work collaboratively as part of a small team and has/is:
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of artistic and logistical planning of complex classical and contemporary live events with multiple stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of managing classical and contemporary live events.
  • In-depth knowledge of how orchestras and choirs work.
  • Good knowledge of Radio 3 & TV Music production and their output
  • Extensive planning and organising skills; working both independently and as part of a team to manage several areas of work at a time; prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
  • Good ability to problem solve, manage event timelines, negotiate and organise live events within budget constraints.
  • Experience of successfully leading / managing event teams, staff or ad hoc teams.
  • Skilled communicator able to lead, motivate, and foster collaboration in a diverse team
  • Ability to empower teams and colleagues.
  • Good experience of forecasting and managing budgets
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and matters relating to child protection.
  • Aptitude to master new systems e.g. Artifax Event, Visio

    The BBC Proms is the biggest classical music festival in the world. We run over 100 live events over 2 months in the summer at the Royal Albert Hall in London and venues around the UK.     Salary: £39,800 - £49,800 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
