Full Job Description

We are looking for a live-in carer to start on a long-term placement 2 weeks on and 4-6 weeks off starting soon Amessham HP.6 The carer must hold a valid DBS on the update service As a live-in carer, you will be living in the resident's home over a 24-hour period for weeks at a time. To provide, help with household chores and support the residents to access the local and broader community and personal care if needed. Above all else, you'll provide companionship and emotional support and stability for the resident, encouraging them to maintain their independence and reach their goals. It takes a special kind of person to be a carer. A good carer is someone who truly cares about others and is not just earning a living. This is a special job, and it needs special people to do it. You will need to understand the residents' psychological, emotional, and medical needs in a compassionate and person-centered way. As a live-in carer, you will be involved with:

  • Companionship - sharing conversations and spending time together, supporting the residents with their interests and hobbies.
  • Personal care - assisting with bathing, dressing and, when necessary, including continence support.
  • Helping with mobility - some customers need assistance getting around the home when necessary.
  • Administering medication - all according to the customer's care plan and recording medication administered on the access planner at the point of medication administration. Training will be given.
  • · Household chores around the home, such as vacuuming or washing clothes if needed. or supporting the resident to make their own meals as stated in their care plan. · Preparing and cooking meals or supporting the resident to make their own meals as stated in their care plan. · Assisting with tasks such as shopping or picking up prescriptions or ordering medication as per care plan. · Supporting the residents to attend medical appointments and recording the outcome of the visit on the access planer. · Other medical support - extra training is provided for more complex support needs as well as first aid training. · Support the resident through emotional episodes using positive behaviour support as detailed in the resident's care plan. · Be responsible for the security of the building. · Record care notes on to access planner in a timely fashion. · Be responsible for a detailed verbal handover to oncoming staff. · Be responsible for encouraging teamwork. fostering excellent communication and sharing resident information on a need-to-know biases. · Work in accordance with the company's ethos, policies and procedures.
