As part of FUTURE FLARES Festival at Grosvenor East in January 2025, we are combining spoken word performance with experimental video footage of drones. The spoken (and read out) text in German and English switches from current affairs (war in Ukraine) to Cold War politics and layered histories of Europe through the lense of landscapes and personal memory of growing up in divided Germany. The public performance will be 60 min long, and taking place on 24 January 2025 between 1:00pm-2:00pm. You must be available for the performance date and the rehearsal date., This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students.

  • Applicants must be keen on performing in public, since the performance will be open to the University and general public.
  • We are looking for one candidate who is able to read and speak German (any accent). The mostly English texts will be read (no need to memorise) and stationary microphones will be used. The emphasis is on voicing the texts, individually, but occasionally as part of the performance also in 'polyphony', that is layered.
  • Prospective candidates MUST be available for the rehearsal on 21 Jan 2025 (exact time TBC) and for the actual performance on 24 Jan 2025 (12.30pm-2:00pm).
