Full Job Description
- To be involved in the annual Lancaster Medical School Quality Monitoring Visit Team to placements used by Lancaster Medical School for placement training as part of the MBChB (Batchelor of Medicine and Surgery) programme.
- Lived Experience Partners are key members of the team, and their role involves the ensuring of externality, fairness and transparency as well as to represent the interests of the wider public.
- They will be provided with paperwork in advance and usually offered the opportunity to ask questions of the placement, undergraduate team, senior leadership team, clinical educators or the medical students.
- As a Lived Experience Partner, you will be supported by the Quality team and other members of the visiting team.
- Quality Monitoring Visits give the placement provider an opportunity to report on its performance and ensure satisfactory completion of obligations.
- They allow for issues to be raised and good practice to be identified.
- The trust will be asked to complete a self-assessment questionnaire before the visit and to survey educators and used alongside student feedback to triangulate questions of the visit. The quality monitoring visit team looks at the following aspects:
- Facilities for students
- Organisation and delivery of teaching
- Staffing and job plans
- Learning opportunities
- Access to patients

How much time is required for the role? The post offers approximately 3 - 5 half days per year and is to be appointed for a one-year period. Quality Monitoring Visits usually take place once a year between January- April but additional visits may be undertaken at times of significant change within a Trust or within the curriculum. Preferred start date: 11th of February 2025 Expected end date: 30th of June 2025 Interview date: To be arranged Weekly hours: The visit will normally be long half days (including working lunch) plus some preparation time Location: At the premises of an external employer. (Is the opportunity online or in person? -The visits are in person). The visits are to local placements across the footprint examples are: Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, East Lancashire Teaching Hospital.
