Full Job Description

The College combines practice and lived experience expertise in an inclusive, welcoming learning environment. All courses are designed to contribute to wellbeing and personal recovery. We are passionate about ensuring students are placed at the centre of everything we do. We work together collaboratively at every level, assisting and empowering individuals in their recovery journey., New Leaf Recovery and Wellbeing College offers a range of free educational courses to help people take better control of their wellbeing, learn some practical skills and provide an opportunity for reflection. It recognises that people are experts in their own wellbeing and recovery. People who have overcome life challenges help design and deliver college courses. The courses increase knowledge and skills and promote self-management. The College Lived Experience Tutor plays a vital part in our core team, supporting the development and delivery of courses. Central to this role is working closely with students and other stakeholders in the co-production and co-teaching of a range of recovery-focused courses. There are real opportunities to shape this innovative and creative college in response to the community and to use your knowledge and skills to influence its future development., This role is central to the delivery of the College course portfolio. The many responsibilities are:

  • To positively support, influence and improve the quality and performance of the college.
  • To support the development of new courses and educational material.
  • To support co-production and co-facilitation of courses and workshops.
  • To co-produce, co-deliver and co-evaluate course materials for the college.
  • To contribute to college initiatives and creative development, including students and other stakeholders.
  • To maintain professional relationships with tutors and students, respecting their views, autonomy and culture.
  • Work closely with the College team and provide any required information or support, including course timetabling, prospectus, bookings, etc.
  • As part of the college team, share responsibility for storing, managing, and using student and college data.
  • To carry out any required administrative duties to ensure the college's smooth and effective running.
  • To promote the ethos of personal recovery, co-production and co-delivery.
  • To model the principles and practices of the value of personal recovery in all aspects of the work.
  • To understand and value lived experience expertise in line with co-production principles.

    Do you have lived experience of mental health challenges and of using mental health services? Do you also have teaching experience and a passion for education that would contribute to the learning and personal recovery of others? If so, this role could be for you., We have a new and unique opportunity for a Lived-Experience Tutor to join our friendly team at New Leaf Recovery and Wellbeing College. The post holder will use their lived experience, knowledge, and expertise to co-teach and co-develop our portfolio of courses. The post is part-time, three days per week., Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification, Own personal lived experience of recovery with mental health challenges
  • Experience in a mental health and/or teaching environment.
  • Experience of having personally accessed mental health services
  • Experience involving people with a lived experience in coproduction and co-delivery of educational sessions
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the concept of personal recovery as it may apply to others
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others and translate learning into effective and committed practice
  • Excellent time management skills to manage competing priorities and demands
  • Ability to communicate and work with people from all backgrounds in strength-based ways
  • Experience and knowledge of the theoretical underpinning of coproduction and recovery and evidence of putting these into practice
  • Experience working with a range of people in different settings
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience working with monitoring/evaluation mechanisms and operational procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the concept of personal recovery as it may apply to others
  • Recent experience in delivering courses and presentations to a wide range of audiences
  • Willing to positively share your own life experiences and personal experience of mental health challenges with people and carers using the service
  • Developed personal plans for managing own recovery
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of having personally accessed inpatient mental health services, Excellent communication, negotiation and networking skills
  • A commitment to eliminating inequalities for people with mental health or other health challenges and promoting inclusion of protected groups
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team, writing skills, etc.
  • Experience in public speaking and delivering presentations.
  • Excellent listening skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) with clear evidence of ability
  • IT skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Ability to prioritise activities to ensure efficient delivery of a work programme.
  • Ability to identify problems and find solutions that deliver the best outcomes
  • Problem-solving, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Make judgments, without direct supervision, about the importance/urgency of workload issues.
