Full Job Description

We are looking for someone to join the Hepatology Team at St George's to support the Community Liver Health project and the Viral Hepatitis team to identify people in the community at risk of liver disease.
You will work in the hospital, community and on our new mobile liver health clinic across South West London. The postholder will be responsible for performing liver assessments using a Fibroscan and they may be requested to provide venous and capillary blood testing as required by the Hepatology team., The purpose of the role is to provide a fibroscan service for Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), and outpatient/inpatient Hepatology, with cross cover of the CLHC and viral hepatitis team projects
The post holder will:
· Perform Fibroscan for patients referred directly by their GP to the CDC, according to established pathways.
· Perform hospital based Fibroscans both within clinic settings and the ward.
· Complete other patient diagnostic tests for people identified as at risk of liver disease including blood tests.
· Work across South West London in the Mobile Hepatology Clinic and in various outreach locations.
· To perform basic clinical assessments and give out basic clinical information, following pre-defined protocols after training and successful competency assessment
· Identification of people/groups who would benefit from Liver Health Checks.
· Work with the Viral Hepatitis Team to provide Blood Borne Virus testing.
· Working across South West London to motivate and encourage staff within outreach and community settings (e.g. drug and alcohol services etc.) to refer people for Liver Health Checks.
· Collection of all relevant data for local and national data collection requirements .
· Support the maintenance of the Fibroscan machine, including calibration of the probes.
· May be required to work outside 9:00-17:00 hours.

Working for our organisation
The Hepatology team at St George's Hospital are dedicated to improving liver health across South West London and have achieved Improving Quality in Liver Service (IQILS) level 2.
The post holder will work as part of the Hepatology team and the South West London Hepatitis Network (STHepNet West) within both community and hospital settings.
SGUH has been successful in the bid to provide a Fibroscan service within the South West London Community Diagnostic Centre which is based at Queen Marys Hospital, Roehampton. This service will provide a Fibroscan® for patients who are referred directly from their GP as part of a recognised pathway for the evaluation of liver fibrosis. This service will be the primary focus of this post, working together with a hepatology clinical nurse specialist.
SGUH and Queen Marys Hospital Roehampton also have dedicated hepatology clinics which also require Fibroscan support, which will be included in this post's activity.
The post holder may also be required to support the STHepNet and CLHC programs with community based Fibroscanning, cross covering for individuals who are already in post.
