Full Job Description

Tameside Children's Services are seeking to appoint a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our dedicated Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Team. In this role, you will provide management of safeguarding allegations and concerns raised against people who work with children and young people. This will include safeguarding activity within and across agencies inside and outside the council (including schools, voluntary organisations, clubs and independent organisations). The post holder will promote excellent practice and outcomes, and consistent thresholds for intervention across services. The role will also include providing training and awareness raising in relation to the safety of children in professional care to organisations across Tameside.

You will be educated to degree level and professionally qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration. This role also requires relevant post qualification experience gained in the management of social workers, managers and safeguarding. We are looking for candidates with experience of leading safeguarding service improvements and change management, highly developed communication skills, ability to think and act strategically, as well ability to build effective working relationships., 1. Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above AND a management qualification, AND 2. Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role, AND 3. Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role where applicable, AND 4. Professional standards practised to the highest expected level. This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English in the person specification.
