Full Job Description

(Approval must be sought from your Line Manager before applying for a Secondment) This exciting, new role will support South Tyneside Council to improve its generation and use of data and evidence. This is a key programme of work, overseen by the Transformation Board, and underpins South Tyneside Council's bold ambition to make South Tyneside a place where people live healthy, happy, and fulfilled lives. The aim is to develop our capacity and capability of generating and acting on insights about South Tyneside to inform service delivery, improvement, decision-making and transparency. This post will play a key role in delivering this programme of work, working with teams from across the council, public and partners. Key objectives will be to:

  • support the development, implementation and maintenance of the South Tyneside Analysis, Research and Technology Academy
  • working across the Council to facilitate and encourage research activities and skills development
  • influence the research culture of the Council through horizon scanning for funding, publications in grey and academic literature, and facilitating knowledge mobilisation activities
  • The role is part funded by the NIHR RSS Specialist Centre for Public Health, and the postholder will be expected to actively promote, support and contribute to the activity of the NHR RSS Specialist Centre for Public Health, alongside their work within the Council. The role will be offered as a flexible 37 hours per week, utilising hybrid working with a mixture of home and office. There will be a requirement to attend some face-to-face meetings.
