Full Job Description

West Northamptonshire's Public Health department has commissioned Soil Association Food for Life (FFL) to deliver a three-year programme from May 2023 - April 2026. The programme works with schools and nurseries to embed the Food for Life approach to good food and drive positive outcomes for public health, the local economy and the environment. Food for Life aims to change the food environment and food culture of schools and nurseries, with the goal of driving positive dietary change and maximising the health and wellbeing benefits of food. We are looking for a Local Programme Manager to lead the programme delivery for a 12 month period of maternity cover. You will be responsible for managing the programme and directly supporting schools and nurseries as well as being the local spokesperson for FFL with local networks, partners and the Council.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of leading and inspiring change
  • Is approachable with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Has substantial project/programme management experience, including: delivering to targets; risk management and adaptation; managing the contribution of others to your project; adhering to budgets and deadlines
  • Is passionate about food with a desire to share that passion with other people so they can make informed choices that benefit themselves, the local economy and the planet.

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That's because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.
  • We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it's needed the most., The Soil Association is a charity working with everyone to transform the way we eat, farm, and care for our natural world. We build real solutions from the ground up. For the last 75 years, we've worked with citizens, farmers, policy makers and businesses, supporting them to explore the vital relationship between the health of soil, plants, animals and people. Because the only way to solve the issues we face is to understand that they are all connected - and that food, farming and forestry are a vital part of the solution.
