Full Job Description
The appointee will complete on calls on the Clinical Decisions Unit, where twice daily Consultant ward rounds take place. They will be expected to supervise the CDU medical team and provide support and advice to more junior doctors. When not on call the appointee will provide medical support to Ainderby and Romanby wards and SDEC, working flexibly across the hospital., Academic and postgraduate activities of the Medical Department
There are regular lunch-time meetings including the Quality and Safety meeting and grand round meetings. The standard provisions for study leave for continuing medical education and personal development are overseen by the postgraduate department.
Working for our organisation
The post is based at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, which is a fully equipped district general hospital with 160 beds. The hospital offers in-patient and out-patient facilities in general medicine and general surgery as well as an in-patient rehabilitation unit. The Urgent Treatment Centre provides a walk in service for minor injuries and illness. Ambulatory care provides Same Day Emergency Care and receives referrals from Primary Care, the UTC and Paramedics. The Friarage also has a brand new Renal Dialysis Unit and Eye Outpatients Department.
There is a brand new education centre with state of the art facilities, a well-equipped medical library, computer room and a doctors mess. The education centre provides regular training including access to simulation equipment.
There are full clinical support services on site including radiology, ultrasound, CT and MRI scanning, haematology, chemical pathology, histopathology, microbiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, etc. Out-patient clinics in dermatology, neurology, medical oncology and genito-urinary medicine are provided by visiting consultants from adjacent hospitals., It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.
