Full Job Description

This is one of several rotational posts to promote the delivery of the well-established acute medicine service and enhance our patient outcomes. The post can be based at either of our main sites and we have established patterns of cross site working. These posts will suit enthusiastic junior doctors looking to develop and use their skills in medicine. The post-holder will be part of a EWTD and New Deal compliant 24/7 shift rota in medicine. They will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well established service for patients living within the catchment area of the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding areas and will be working under consultant supervision. The position is initially offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months after which we would envisage extension on a mutually agreed basis., Clinical The successful candidate will contribute to Medical and Emergency care across the medical and emergency division, and will work as part of the Medical units with a full shift rota. We have forged close links between our Acute and General Medicine and Emergency Medicine Teams and we work collaboratively. As a key member of the Consultant led team, the successful applicant will provide support to the inpatients and outpatients within the specialty. There will be additional opportunities to learn procedural skills Education, Continuing Development and revalidation We will offer clinical and educational supervision along with access to local training events. Teaching aimed at helping candidates pass MRCP and perhaps access to ALS and US training. We would help the candidates in developing e-portfolio, sign post to acute medical courses, communication skills course. The appointee will be expected to maintain their skills and up-date knowledge in accordance with Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development Guidance from the General Medical Council and the Royal Colleges to facilitate revalidation. This includes a mandatory annual appraisal which forms part of the job planning process. The successful applicant will be involved in teaching medical students and training junior medical and nursing staff., · Assistance and supervision as well as working collaboratively with the F1, F2 and GP VTS doctors with the management of patients. · Strengthening the delivery of a, high quality, General and Emergency Medicine service across the hospital and community. · Developing further links between Emergency medicine and medicine · Developing innovative practices in clinical patient management, focusing on high quality care. · Developing a subspecialty interest. · Teaching and training undergraduates as well as postgraduates · Quality assurance of the service and individual practice The rota pattern is a full shift with and the successful candidate will receive appropriate remuneration including weekend allowance, additional rostered hours & night premium.
