Full Job Description

The successful applicant will work alongside our team of consultant nurses and general gynaecologists who run the rapid access clinics to facilitate prompt diagnosis in addition to providing a link between this service and the oncology team. It is anticipated that they will also support with telephone triage of the endometrial cancer pathway. They will undertake the management of patients usually dealt with at secondary care level within oncology, such as early stage low grade endometrial cancer and ovarian masses with a low risk of malignancy. The will also support with the running of the weekly Unit MDT.

In addition this post is can assist with the provision of general gynaecology in relation to the cancer services. This could include out-patient gynaecological clinics and elective gynaecological surgery. It may also include (depending on the interests of the applicant): vulval medicine, colposcopy ambulatory surgery or hysteroscopy.

The post holder would be expected to develop the oncology service, and development of areas such as tumour specific pathway improvement for endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal cancers.

This is a whole-time locum post in Gynaecology. It is based at the Liverpool Women'sNHS Foundation Trust with sessions at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic applicant to join the current Gynae Oncology department. The job plan will be tailored to the skill set of the successful applicant.

This post is designed to strengthen the existing team of Consultants who provide Gynaecological Cancer care to the women of Liverpool and the surrounding areas of Merseyside, Cheshire and North-Wales.

The Gynae Oncology department supports a population base of 2.4 million covering Merseyside and Cheshire. With over 500 cancer referrals each year, the Liverpool Women's Hospital is one of the five busiest Gynae Oncology centres in England., Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust delivers the highest standards of care for women, babies and families. Each year we deliver over 7,500 babies, carry out over 49,000 gynaecological inpatient and outpatient procedures, care for over 1,000 poorly & preterm newborns, perform around 1,000 IVF cycles and have over 4,000 genetic appointments taking place.
