Full Job Description

Main duties of the job, The post holder will hold CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be within 6 months of this. They may have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the department such as Urogynaecology.
The postholder will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, and, in liaison with consultant colleagues, continuity of care when the post holder is absent.
We are looking for a vibrant keen obstetrician to join a great team of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at NBT.
The postholder will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
The postholder will be required to take part in quality improvement projects.

There is a strong research element in our department. The option to develop research to complement our departmental research plans and could be negotiated in job planning if or when appropriate

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register and have CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from base hospital, for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The successful candidates will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.

The Trust also provides regional services in neurosciences, orthopaedics, pathology, plastic surgery and burns, renal medicine and transplant and urology and is the major trauma centre for the West Country.
The Trust moved the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building in May 2014 which is regarded as one of the best hospital facilities in Europe, on the Southmead Hospital site. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The women and children's services are delivered on the same site in a closely adjacent building.
